Korean automaker, Hyundai, entered the luxury segment with the 2009 Hyundai Genesis sedan. Many critics scoffed at Hyundai's idea to venture into the upscale segment citing their potential contenders and the timing when the economy was showing signs of recession. 2009 Hyundai Genesis offers two powertrain options: the Lamda 3.8L V-6 engine which peaks at 290 horsepower, and Hyundai's all-new Tao 4.6L V-8 engine which powers out 375 horsepower.
