Spotlight: the New 2019 Hyundai Tucson

Redesigned entirely for 2019, one of our favorite new five-passenger compact crossovers is back in San Antonio more robust on the road and off, better with fuel, and more expertly equipped than ever. South-central Texas SUV drivers have a lot to look forward to, too.

Overall, 2019 Tucson features a refreshed exterior design, spanning the gamut from its wheels and antennae to its headlighting and mirrors. There's more technology standard and available in general, especially, in hallmark Hyundai fashion, in the Tucson Value trim. But new inclusions like an efficient idle, stop, and go feature and an electronic parking brake are just the tip of the iceberg. Check out all the new Hyundai Tucson has to offer here at World Car Hyundai North.

There are two engines: a 161-horsepower, 2.0-liter inline-four standard in the Tucson SE base and a more powerful 181-horsepower, 2.4-liter I4 in Tucson SEL and later. The latter's more widely available, too, sure to pique the interest of performance enthusiasts. Pair the former with a standard six-speed auto transmission, and great fuel efficiency results -- up to 23 mpg in cities like New Braunfels, 30 mpg down the highway to Windcrest, and 26 mpg combined between Live Oak, TX and Schertz, by EPA estimates.

Safety-wise, Hyundai has you covered. Tucson makes all-wheel drive (AWD) available, for one. But smart security tech also abounds, with the addition of numerous newly available active safety and driver-assist features. Lane-keeping and forward collision-avoidance assist systems and a driver attention warning feature appear standard in every Tucson trim. Tucson Value and later standardize blind-spot and rear cross-traffic collision warnings, while Tucson Limited includes a standard surround-view monitor and Tucson Ultimate features pedestrian detection.

Of course, the new Tucson is nothing if not a home away from home for any trip. Its spacious cabin measures up to 102.2 cubic feet, with a selection of cloth, durable YES Essentials cloth, or leather seating that comes available heated and ventilated in front as well as optionally heated in the rear. Both front seats are power-adjustable, power lumbar support is available in select trims, and if you fold the rear seats, you can make use of up to 61.9 cubic feet of space for luggage and essentials, accessible using a hands-free smart liftgate option. Roof side rails are also available for extras, and you can tow up to 2,000 pounds when properly equipped, putting the SUV in weekend toy-hauling territory.

Tour the new Hyundai car and SUV lineup here at 12908 IH-35 North, Building 2 in San Antonio, and you'll find there's plenty more to 2019 Hyundai Tucson where these came from. Give us a call or stop by today -- your test drive's just around the corner!
