What's New in Hyundai Elantra for 2019?

Our automaker's latest compact sedan returns completely redesigned and, in the Hyundai tradition, loaded with leading-edge features, all at an affordable bottom line. Let the experts at World Car Hyundai North give you the virtual tour.

For one, the look of 2019 Elantra has changed comprehensively. It stands out even from other new Hyundai cars and SUVs here in San Antonio, TX. Check out its hood, fenders, surface design lines, grille, headlights, and wheels, and you'll see what we mean. Elantra Limited and Sport, for instance, get LED headlighting.

Interior upgrades range from new center and instrument clusters to new air vents and housings. Bluetooth and steering wheel audio controls have been added to Elantra SE models with a manual transmission. Blue Link connected services, for another example, are now available in trims such as Elantra Value Edition. Rise to Elantra Limited, and you'll find Qi wireless charging and eight-speaker Infinity premium audio now come standard. The piece de resistance: most higher trims feature a next-generation AVN 5.0 infotainment system, complete with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as HERE HD Traffic navigation.

Hyundai has also extended its commitment to your drive-time security. The Hyundai SmartSense active safety and driver-assist suite now comes standard, depending on trim. Those like Elantra SEL and later receive its forward collision-avoidance and lane keep assistance systems as well as driver attention alert. Limited trims with an available Ultimate Package now incorporate safe exit assist.

Of course, there's plenty more to look forward to.

Just as it has since its celebrated debut in the 1990s, Elantra continues to offer a trim for every driver, from those looking for high efficiency to performance enthusiasts. I4 engine choices span the gamut from turbocharged and 128-horsepower to naturally aspirated and high-octane 201-horsepower. Choose a six-speed manual transmission for engaging handling or a seven-speed EcoShift dual-clutch transmission for ease of use. You can get great fuel economy either way. The EPA estimates that Elantra can achieve up to 29 mpg in cities like Schertz, 38 mpg down the highway to Live Oak, TX, and 33 mpg combined between Windcrest and New Braunfels, according to EPA estimates. Step into Elantra Eco and, with its DCT, you can do even better: up to 32 mpg, 40 mpg, and 35 mpg respectively.

Plus, there's a ton more smart security tech available, from smart cruise control, blind-spot and rear cross-traffic collision warning, and pedestrian detection to a lane departure system, and more. Let's not forget: Elantra is, above all, accommodating, not to mention expertly equipped. Its premium cloth and leather seating options are available heated up front, six-way-adjustable for the driver, they incorporate power lumbar support in select models, and you can modify the height of each. 5-, 7-, and 8-inch infotainment touchscreen options keep you in control of your entertainment for the duration.

The best way to experience all this for yourself is firsthand. Call our showroom here at 12908 IH-35 North or drop in for a visit here at Building 2, and we'll be glad to schedule you for a test drive in your favorite trim. We're looking forward to meeting you!
